Mysuru Dasara inaugurator’s name yet to be finalised: Minister ST Somashekar

CM Yediyurappa will have the final say on Cabinet expansion, says Somashekar

Mysuru, September 18:- The state government is yet to finalise the name of the person to inaugurate Mysuru Dasara, said District in-charge Minister S T Somashekar here on Friday (September 18).

Talking to reporters, the minister said, “As on today, the name is yet to be finalised. We have asked all the state government departments to shortlist the possible names for inaugurating Dasara. We will discuss the list with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and arrive at a decision.”

Reacting to the news that Rs 10 crore is needed for simple Dasara this time, the minister opined, “Though it is going to be simple, the tradition will be followed without any changes. Traditional programmes will remain unaltered. The royalty and honorarium paid to the Royal family will be made as usual. They continue to be state’s highly respected family. In a short while from now, they will be formally invited for Dasara. I will be talking to the concerned officials about Dasara festivities.”

When his attention was drawn to the state Cabinet expansion, Somashekar said, “It is the discretion of the chief minister and I am no authority to comment on that. Whatever you want to ask about the expansion, you will have to ask Yediyurappa. It is up to him to have a minister from Mysuru region. At the end of the day, it is the chief minister who has the final say.”  (MR/KS)
