The state government will soon take a decision on building Kanaka Bhavan in the city, said PWD and District In-charge Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa on Thursday.
He was speaking at the Kanakadasa Jayanthi celebrations organised by Mysuru district administration and Kanakadasa Jayantotsava samithi. He said, “The state government is considering the demand for new Kanaka bhavan in the city. In addition, Kanakadasa statue will be installed in the city.”
“Saint Poet Kanakadasa though born in a backward community, always strived to bring equality and created awareness among the people,” he added.
Speaking about the controversy surrounding Tippu Jayanti, Mahadevappa said Tippu was a great leader but a few people are opposing him to further their cause and create communal disharmony in the society.
Santakavi Kanakadasa, a book on Kanakadasa by Department of Information and Public Relations, was released on the occasion.
