Mysuru, February 11:- “I will discuss with Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar regarding the demolition of Lansdowne building and Devaraja Market building,” said Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath on Saturday.
Responding to the media queries on Yaduveer’s dissatisfaction with the decision to demolish the heritage buildings, she said that she would meet and discuss with him and get his opinion as the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) is also keen to protect the heritage buildings.
“Lansdowne building can be kept as a memorial but can’t be used as a commercial building. We have written a letter regarding the same to the state government,” the Mayor said.
She thanked the government for providing Rs 150 crore for Mysuru in the state budget.
“We asked Rs 300 crore but we have got Rs 150 crore, which we will use for the urban development. There are several problems in the city which will be solved with the budget allocation,” she added. (MR/KS)
