Detox goals

If you are trying to lose weight or aiming at looking healthier, the easiest way to do this is to detox your body from toxins and drink enough water. It is advisable to drink 10 to 12 glasses a day to cleanse your system of toxins and stay hydrated, too. You need not have plain water all the time! You can simply infuse water with different products to make it taste good, thereby keeping yourself motivated to drink as much as you can. It can’t get any easier than this – drink water and lose weight!

Here are some easy recipes for detox waters for you, that you can use every day and stay clear of any additional calories.

 

  • Cucumber Water

 

Ingredients and Method:

Take a medium-sized cucumber and cut it into thin slices, preferably without peeling. Combine these slices with 2 litres of water, and let it stand overnight.

Drink this water through the next day. You can keep refilling fresh water as long as you feel that the cucumbers still have flavour in them. Make sure to discard the cucumber slices and any remaining water after 24 hours.

 

  • Honey and Lemon Detox Water

 

Ingredients and Method:

Just mix one teaspoon honey with two teaspoons of lemon juice in a warm glass of water! You can relish it like a wake-up drink and, also, if you wish, after any heavy meal during the day.

  • Cumin Seeds (Jeera) Water

Ingredients and Method:

To prepare this detox water, you need to soak 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds in a glass of water, and leave it overnight. The next day, you will find the seeds puffed up and fully absorbed in the water, giving it a hint of pale brownish colour.

Strain the water to separate the seeds, and drink the water on an empty stomach. You might not like the slightly tangy taste of the water, but you must remind yourself of the health benefits it is gifting you!

 

  • Coriander Seeds (Dhania) Water

 

Ingredients and Method:

To prepare this detox water, soak 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds in a glass of water, and leave it overnight. When you wake up the next day, strain the water to separate the seeds. Drink the water on an empty stomach. This will flush out toxins from your body and also regularize your bowel movements.

You may not like the taste, but we can assure you of a fitter body and healthy, glowing skin with its regular use.

 

  • Fenugreek Seeds (Methi) Water

 

Ingredients and Method:

To prepare this detox water, soak 1 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in a glass of water, and leave it overnight. The next day, drink this water on an empty stomach.

You could either chew and eat the soaked fenugreek seeds or leave them. The seeds act as natural soluble fibres, and will lend additional help in getting a few kilos off your body.

 

  • Basil (Tulsi) and Strawberry Water

 

Ingredients and Method:

Take three cups of strawberries and cut them into halves. Crush 8 fresh basil leaves and add to the strawberries, applying a little pressure so that the juices come out well. Add this mixture to 2 litres of water.

Enjoy this drink throughout the day. Not only will this drink help in weight loss, but will also keep you refreshed through the day.

 

  • Apple and Cinnamon Water

 

Ingredients and Method:

To prepare this recipe, all you need is an apple, a cinnamon stick, and 2 litres of water. Cut the apple into thin slices and drop it into a jar. Add the cinnamon stick and fill the jar about half-way up with ice.  Pour the water over this mixture. Let it rest it for an hour in the fridge.

Thereafter, you can keep drinking the water and refilling fresh water in the jar as long as the apple does not lose flavour.

 

  • Orange and Lemon Water

 

Ingredients and Method:

To make this drink, you’ll need 1 orange and 1 lemon, both thinly sliced. Alternatively, you could simply take the juice out of the orange and lemon. Add the juice or the slices to 1 litre of water. Keep this mixture resting in the fridge for two hours, remembering not to soak it beyond two hours as it may get a bit bitter owing to the rind of the fruit.

This can be the best drink for weight loss, as the alkaline combination gives a much-needed boost to your metabolism.

 

  • Ginger Water

 

Ingredients and Method:

To prepare this detox water, all you require is a cup of roughly chopped ginger and 1 litre of water. Place all the ingredients together a blender, and make a paste with a smooth, batter-like consistency. Strain this mixture. You can store this in the fridge for a week.

Every time you wish to drink this infused water, just add half a teaspoon of the ginger water to some plain water. For best results, drink this detox water on an empty stomach, but you could even drink it throughout the day.

 

  • Pineapple and Mint Water

 

Ingredients and Method:

To prepare this water, you’ll need three cups of roughly chopped pineapple and 8 to 10 freshly crushed mint leaves. Put these two ingredients at the bottom of a jar, and fill it half-way through with ice and the other half with 2 litres of water. Keep the jug in the fridge for 30 minutes. Enjoy your drink for up to two days.
