Mysuru, July 24:- Special pujas and prayers are being offered to Nadadevi Chamundeshwari at Chamundi Hill from early morning today (July 24).
Mahanyasa, rudrabhisheka, panchabhisheka, sahasranama and other rituals have been offered to the Goddess. Chamundeshwari Vardhanti is being observed every year on Krishna paksha saptami and Revati nakshatra.
The Vardhanti procession was inaugurated after prayers from the Mysuru royal family as a tradition. Titular king Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar and his wife Trishika Kumari Wadiyar participated in the event and offered special prayers.
The golden idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari was placed in the palanquin and taken around in a procession. 21 rounds of canon firing was also held on the occasion.
Police band and other musical troupes, and folk art teams participated in the procession. Thousands of devotees took part in the event.
As private vehicles are prohibited from entering the hill, KSRTC buses provided free service to the devotees from Lalitha Mahal Helipad to the hill.
Food distribution is being held at the Dasoha Bhavan atop the hill. Mysuru Police has provided tight security atop the hill. (KS, NGB)
