Devu murder case: Police to seek custody of Manja, Chandru

The city police will produce Manja and Chandru both accused in the sensational Devu alias Devendra murder case before the District and Sessions Judge K S Mudgal and the case will come up for hearing at 3 pm on Thursday.

The police team brought both of them from Hindalga jail in Belgaum on Wednesday and produced before a magistrate before lodging them in the Mysuru jail.

On May 5, Devu was hacked to death in Paduvarahalli at around 7:10 am on that day by a gang who came in a white Bolero vehicle.

Manja has been sentenced to life for his role in Hunsur double murder case in 2008 and the Jayalakshmipuram police had appealed for a body warrant as they needed to probe his role in Devu murder.

The other accused Chandru too was lodged in the Hindalga jail and the vehicle that was used in Devu murder belonged to Chandru. The police have established his role and the DNA test of hair samples obtained from the vehicles matched with Chandru.

The accused will be produced before the District and Sessions Judge K S Mudgal. While the police want to interrogate the accused in their custody, it all depends on the order of the judge.
