DFRL to start PG course in food technology

The Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL) is all set to introduce two-year post-graduation course in food technology from the next academic year.

As a pilot project, the intake will be restricted to 10 candidates from the next year and the preference will be given to those working in armed forces.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given green signal to start the course from the next academic year. Till date, DFRL has been conducting post graduate diploma courses in food analysis and quality assurance, of 10-month duration, recognized by the University of Mysore.

UoM has also recognized DFRL for conducting MSc and PhD programmes in food science and technology. The laboratory is well equipped with advanced instruments like GLC, HPLC, amino acid analyser, atomic absorption spectrophotometer, colour difference meter, automatic microbial monitors etc. The faculty members for the course will have highly-qualified scientists from the food industry.
