Mysuru, January 10:- A workshop was held to discuss ‘Is Swaminathan commission report, a solution for agricultural problems’ at Chethan Garden near Racecourse here on Wednesday.
President of Sugarcane Growers’ Association, Kuruburu Shanthakumar presided over the convention, organised by State Sugarcane Growers’ Association, Raithamithra Farmers Produce Company.
A list of problems that the farmers are facing was released on the occasion. No fair price for the agricultural products, no proper loan facility from banks Co-operative unions, drought and flood, improper insurance schemes for crops have been listed as the major problems the farmers are facing.
Former vice chancellor of Dharwad Agricultural University, head of the department of JSS agricultural Sciences, Padhmabhushana Dr Mahadevappa, retired national director of NAIP, ICAR New Delhi, Dr Mruthyunjaya, former vice chancellor of Bangalore Agricultural University Dr Narayana Gowda, Dr Chandregowda, former director of Shivamogga Agricultural University Dr A S Kumaraswamy, Dr Shashidhar, Dr Arun Balamatti, senior scientist of Agricultural Sciences centre Bagalakot and Dharwad university, Dr Mouneshwari Kammar, writer Chinnaswamy Vaddagere, Honnuru Prakash, director of Raithamithra farmers producer company Gopinath, and others were present.
