The process of providing kerosene to 21,000 ration card holders in the poll-bound Nanjangud taluk has been withdrawn by the district administration.
As the by-elections have been scheduled for April 9 in Nanjangud, the election code of conduct has come into force from March 9. Around 39,000 ration card holders are there in Nanjangud taluk.
Deputy Commissioner D Randeep said that the process of identifying ration cards without LPG connection was in progress for providing kerosene prior to the elections dates were announced. As per the directions of the Election Commission (EC), the process has been withdrawn and an action taken report has been submitted to the EC on Tuesday,” he added.
Meanwhile, the district administration issued a circular on February 15 to identify ration cards without LPG connections. After receiving declarations from the card holders, permission is being issued for distribution of kerosene, according to senior Deputy Director of Food and Civil Supplies Department, K Rameshwarappa.
