District administration to protect Lansdowne building

Mysuru, November 14:- The district administration has decided to protect the historic Lansdowne building in the city.

Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar inspected the building on Tuesday and took stock of the development works. He was accompanied by Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner KH Jagadeesha. A review is being done on a new report on the Lansdowne building.

An expert committee has opined that the historic Lansdowne building needs to be protected but with some makeover. Another committee has suggested razing the building and reconstructing it, protecting its historic elements unharmed. The administration has sent both reports to the state government and is waiting for its opinion. (MR/KS)
