District Congress protests against SC order on reservation

Mysuru, February 15:- Mysuru District Congress staged a protest on Saturday condemning the removal of reservation in promotions for SC, ST and OBC at Gandhi Square in the city on Saturday (Feb 15).

“The Supreme Court has given a verdict that reservation is not a fundamental right. An application seeking verification of the verdict should be submitted. We request the Centre to submit an application to the Supreme Court re-verify its judgement. The Supreme Court in its verdict had told that reservation in promotions is left to the state governments. The judgement that reservation is not a fundamental right is dangerous and against the Constitution of India,” said the protesters.

“Bharatiya Janata Party and Sangh Parivar are against social justice. They demolished the temple of Santa Ravi Dasa in Delhi. They have weakened the atrocities prevention Act. Congress fought in the Parliament to get the Act strengthened. Government has not revised the scholarship of the students of SC, ST communities since 2014. The central government is against Dalits,” they alleged.

Former Chamarajanagar Member of Parliament R Dhruvanarayan, former MLA M K Somashekar, Congress district president Dr BJ Vijay Kumar, city president R Murthy and others were present. (MR/KS)
