For the first time in the history of table tennis, the Mysuru District Table Tennis Tournament was conducted in Swiss league format. Over 40 players including international bronze medalist in deaf and dumb Ullas Naik, district junior champion Srinivasa Thirtha and several senior players participated in the tournament.
Three players shared the lead with nine points each – Srinivasa (9 pts) beat Lohith (6pts), Ullas Naik (9pts) beat Soumya (6 pts) and Mukunda (9 pts) beat Dhanya (6pts), at the end of the third round,
The two-day District Table Tennis Tournament was inaugurated by national referee Manjunath at Cauvery School in city, recently. The tournament was jointly organised under the auspices of Harsha Table Tennis Academy and Mysore Chess Centre.
Proprietor of Pioneer Sports Prasanna, Vice-President of United Karnataka Chess Association Nagendra Muralidhar and Umesh Urs of Harsha Table Tennis Academy were present.
