Don’t develop tourism at the expense of environment: Malavika Gubbivani

Mysuru, April 5:- No doubt tourism development is the need of the hour, it should not be at the expense of the environment and by ecological destruction. The Lalitha Mahal Palace garden houses hundreds of fruit and flower-bearing trees and is home to innumerable birds and urban wildlife. It is also part of the ever-dwindling lung space for Mysoreans. Land mafia, allegedly in collusion with politicians, comes up with fantastic plans for grabbing prime urban land in the name of tourism, etc., and the governments give clearance without even conducting environmental impact assessment.
Several NGOs and environmentalists have already objected to this project. If the project is not shelved or shifted to another suitable location immediately, Mysoreans will be forced to approach the National Green Tribunal for a stay, said Malavika Gubbivani, the district convener of AAP Mysuru in a press release.
