Don’t ruin life in the name of love, Minister GTD tells students

Mysuru, September 17:- “Marry those who know love, life and trust. Don’t ruin your life in the name of love,” Higher Education Minister G T Devegowda advised the students of Maharani Science College on Monday.

He was speaking after inaugurating annual activities of cultural, sports and NSS of the college.

“Savitri Bai Pule started education for women amidst opposition. We should remember her the way we remember Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. Mahatma Gandhi had said India will develop if villages are developed. Every village should have a school, village panchayat, co-operative society for farmers. Society needs a good teacher and a doctor. Earlier, girls were not even studying high school. But now they are on par with boys. Even the prime minister remembers his teacher. If a girl is learned, the entire house becomes educated. Earlier, parents were getting their children married after finding a suitable match. Now, they themselves interview their better-off before getting married. Divorce cases are on the rise in the society. Don’t ruin your lives for love,” he added.

He explained to the students how he could overcome setbacks in politics and recalled him growing potatoes in a barren land after watching Dr Rajkumar’s ‘Bangarada Manushya.’

Joint director of College Education Department, Dr Shreesha Kumar H Y, personality development trainer R A Chethan Kumar, NSS convener Dr Chandrashekhar and others were present. (MR/KS).
