Don’t set up boards in the name of caste: BJP MLC AH Vishwanath

Mysuru, November 23: Bharatiya Janata Party MLC A H Vishwanath on Saturday (November 21) said that the state government should not think of setting up caste-based development boards which will invariably act as a deterrent to peace.

He said, “The government decision has been taken in haste. According to the famous poet Kuvempu, Karnataka is a beautiful state which is known for a peaceful environment. We should avoid anything that is against peace. Vishwanath said, “The Constitution has been written with social justice in mind. We need to run the government in the name of Gautam Buddha, Dr B R Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi.”

Reacting to the Cabinet expansion, the MLC said, “Whether it is reshuffle or expansion, only Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi know. We need to have a proper cabinet which is proactive. Only then, will the government get a good name? D Devaraja Urs had a professional cabinet during his tenure as the chief minister and no wonder, he could rule the state for two terms. The decisions of Congress or BJP are taken in New Delhi and sometimes, they get delayed for various reasons.”

The BJP leader added, “I hope to hear something concrete about the Cabinet expansion and I am confident of a berth. Even the central leadership has some plans for me, let us wait and see.”

On former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy joining hands with the BJP for the elections to Mandya DCC Bank, Vishwanath said he always looks for someone to be in the reckoning.” (MR/KS)
