Dr Ambedkar wanted to liberate the society: UoM Registrar Prof Lingaraja Gandhi

Mysuru, April 17:- “Dr B R Ambedkar wanted to liberate the society from the chains,” said Registrar of the University of Mysore (UoM)  Prof Lingaraja Gandhi.

He was speaking after inaugurating a special lecture to mark 128th Jayanti of Dr Ambedkar, organised by Economics and Cooperative Study Department here on Tuesday.

“Ambedkar had a multi-dimensional personality. He had an enormous amount of knowledge. He had expertise in 32 streams. He was an expert in 11 languages. His personality itself was attractive. I am happy that discussions are being held on Dr Ambedkar to this extent. It is a good development that youths, researchers and students are actively participating in this event,” he said.

“Ambedkar is the biggest name in the history of advocates of humanity. Buddha, Basavanna, Ambedkar and Kuvempu are the links of the same chain. Everyone should read about the lives of these great men,” he advised.

Director of the Department of Cooperative Studies Prof M Indira, chairman and dean, Faculty of Law, UoM Prof C Basavaraju and others were present. (MR/GK).
