Mysuru, August 27:- Dr Niranjana Vanalli, professor of journalism from University of Mysore is appointed as the Director, Indian Cultural Centre, Dushanbe, Tajikistan, by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
The tenure of this prestigious post is for three years. Dr Vanalli, who has worked as faculty member of Journalism and Mass Communication Department in the UoM for the last 25 years, is also a senior freelance-journalist in Kannada.
He has penned 34 books to his credit and more than one thousand articles and features. ‘Laila Gold,’ a short film produced by Dr Vanalli won the national award, given away by the Ministry of Panchayat Raj, Government of India, in 2016. He has also served as the Registrar of Karnataka State Dr Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University, prior to this appointment.
As Director of Indian Cultural Centre, Dr Vanalli will be responsible for cultural exchanges between India and Tajikistan. ICC has been conducting classes in Yoga and Bharatanatya at Dushanbe. Dr Vanalli will be in-charge of promoting Indian culture at the erstwhile Soviet Union.
Dr Vanalli will assume charge as the Director, ICC, Dushanbe during the last week of August 2018. -KK
