Dr. Purnima talks on Shakespeare’s ‘Tempest’ at Mahajanas

A special lecture on William Shakespeare’s ‘Tempest’ was organised by the Department of English, SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, on March 14. Dr Purnima, Director of Children’s Literary Club, Mysuru, was the resource person.

Speaking on the play, ‘Tempest’ prescribed for students of B.A./B.Sc., Prof. Purnima highlighted the contrastive elements in the play like nature – society, disharmony – harmony, characters like Ariel – Calliban and also the importance of the opening scene. On the occasion, a DVD on the opening scene of the play Tempest was screened. The concept, design and script writing is done by Prof Purnima and directed by Prof H S Umesh, produced by KSOU and Bangalore Doordarshan. The students benefited immensely from the lecture and the screening. The Head of the Department of English, K R Manjunath and other faculty members were present on the occasion.
