Dr Shekhar urges doctors to work for underprivileged sections

Former president of ASICON Dr K S Shekhar has urged the doctors to work collectively to build a health institution for the underprivileged people.

He was speaking after inaugurating the ASICON-2016, the 76th annual National conference of the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI) at the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) campus in the city on Thursday.

Dr Shekhar said the doctors who have been focusing on development of the corporate sector should now work in unison for the welfare of the people at large for a healthy society.

“More than 1,600 papers will be presented by over 4,200 doctors in the conference which will conclude on December 18,” he said.

District Incharge Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa, who also spoke on the occasion, said that he was happy to see Mysuru hosting the event for the first time which is happening after nearly 20 years in Karnataka. The conference will help doctors to know more about advancement in technology, innovations in health care and serve as a platform to exchange ideas.
