A drawing and essay competition for school students to commemorate world Environment day was organised at Kukkarahalli Lake on Friday.
Karnataka state Pollution Control Board, Mysuru organised the drawing and essay competition with over 600 students of various schools taking part. Speaking to City Today, Environmental Officer of Pollution Control Board Raghuram said, “The competition is organised to create awareness among the student community and the people in general. This competition helps to underline need for collective efforts to protect environment. It also helps people to conserve forests and brings awareness on pollution control.”
“We have received good response and over 600 students from 42 various schools of the city are participating. Winners in the category of Primary, higher primary and high school will be given mementos and special prizes,” he added.
Senior Environmental officer Lingaraju K M, Environmental officer of rural M G Yatish and others were present.
