Dreaded debt problem claims another farmer

The number of suicide is on the rise in Mandya district. Unable to pay debts due to drought in the state, the farmer allegedly committed suicide.

The deceased is identified as Govindegowda (55), a resident of Ballekere village of K R Pet taluk. He had borrowed a loan of Rs 4 lakh from various banks for agricultural activities. With the dreaded drought hitting the state hard, being unable repay the loan, he committed suicide. K R Pet rural police have registered a case.
