Mysuru, September 10:- Sri Ram Sene chief Pramod Muthalik has squarely blamed the politicians and their kin for the drugs menace in the state. He accused the politicians of trying to silence the Police Department.
Muthalik was talking to reporters at Mysuru Press Club here on Thursday (September 10).
He said, “We should create awareness among school children and youths on the hazards of drugs. Our politicians are into drugs’ business and their children are hand-in-glove with it. Our Police Department is helpless in front of our politicians. The drug trade is worth thousands of crores. Whenever someone is caught, he or she will come out on bail and continue with the drug trade.”
The Sene chief said, “Beginning today, we will work towards creating awareness on drugs. Many colleges in Mysuru are finding it tough to fight the drug menace in their premises. We will be meeting the Deputy Commissioner B Sharath to submit a memorandum.”
Muthalik added, “Many colleges in Bengaluru have complained of their students consuming drugs and Mysuru is no exception. Parents, guardians and teachers all know this but are helpless. Students from other countries come to India to study, but get into drug business to make money. If the hostels are raided, we will get a clear picture of the drug abuse in the country.” (MR/KS)
