DSS activists vent ire over stopping of Mahisha Dasara

Mysuru, October 22:- Dalita Sangharsha Samithi members on Tuesday staged protest in front of deputy commissioner’s (DC) office in the city, condemning the stopping of Mahisha Dasara by the district administration.

The protesters alleged that Mysuru-Kodagu Member of Parliament Pratap Simha oppressed the feelings of the native people of Mysuru, who respect Mahishasura. They said that Mahisha Dasara was being organised for the past 7 years atop Chamundi Hill without affecting anyone’s religious beliefs and alleged that Simha played with people’s sentiments and rituals, and got the event forcefully stopped.

The DSS members also alleged that the MP was directly involved in getting the shamiyana dismantled and the believers of Mahisha Dasara were assaulted. The activists alleged that the deputy commissioner and the commissioner of police have failed in their duties and demanded their transfers.
