Mysuru, December 2:- “Dalita Sangharsha Samithi (DSS) is not the property of anyone. It belongs to the oppressed people,” said DSS leader Ningaraj Malladi at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Monday.
“DSS belongs to the oppressed, poor people of all the communities. DSS leaders Mallesh, Siddaraju, Puttalakshmamma, Karya Basavanna and others held a press meet and said they are expelling me, HP Diwakar, K Nanjappa, Devendra, Venkatesh from DSS for supporting Vishwanath in Hunsur by-elections. The district DSS condemns their action,” he said.
“DSS has extended its support to Vishwanath keeping in mind the social justice he advocates. Though he is a candidate from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), we have supported him on a personal basis. The Congress candidate of the constituency, HP Manjunath is more dangerous than anyone. He has not allowed any Dalit leader prosper in the constituency. He has backed only his family members. Dalits of the constituency are not supporting him. DSS state leader Mavalli Shankar has directed us to support Congress in the by-elections. If we oppose it, they say they are expelling us. District DSS condemns his statement,” he added.
“Dalits need people who support them and respond to their problems and not any political party. Shankar should understand it. We won’t allow DSS to function as directed by Congress. The decision of regional DSS leaders is the final,” he added.
