DSS, KRRS demand grace marks for SSLC students from backward areas

Prime News, Karnataka, Education, Students, Health, Disease, Mysuru, July 31:- Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (DSS) and Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) are demanding grace marks for Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) students who are basically from backward areas.

Talking to reporters here on Saturday (July 31), KRRS state president Badagalapura Nagendra said they will be staging a protest on August 3 to draw the attention of the state government.

Nagendra said, “Despite the pandemic situation and much against the advice of many experts, the state government decided to conduct SSLC examinations. In most of the states, Class 10 examinations were shelved. To maintain parity, the Karnataka government should offer grace marks to students from backward areas.”

The farmer leader said, “Because of the pandemic conditions, students living in rural areas could not learn much. Online classes turned out to be a disaster for them as they could not afford tabs or smartphones. The grace marks should be given based on Class 9 performance.”

He added, “Students from backward communities and rural areas deserve this special attention.”

Hosakote Basavaraju and other leaders were present at the presser. (MR/GK)
