Mysuru, March 19:- Dalita Sangharsha Samithi (DSS), Mysuru, has urged the state government to provide essential groceries to the poor and underprivileged people.
“The entire world is now facing coronavirus threat. The threat is increasing day by day. The central and state governments have taken precautionary measures to avoid the outbreak of the virus in India. The decision of the state government to cancel all the activities and introducing a kind of ‘health emergency’ has affected daily wage workers, poor people and footpath vendors. The state government should take the initiative and responsibility to protect the common man,” said Choranahalli Shivanna at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Thursday.
“The Department of Food and Civil Supplies should distribute 10 kg rice, 3 kg wheat, 2 kg sugar and 1 litre cooking oil to the families having ration cards. The government should make sure that the workers at malls and theatres get leave with salary. DSS supports the scientific actions taken by the government to control coronavirus. But some people are trying to spread superstition among public in the name of homa and worship, which should be controlled by the government,” he added.
