DySP suicide: Heat is on state government

Close on the heels of the alleged suicide by a DySP in Belagavi a couple of days back, another police officer of the same rank committing suicide by hanging in Madikeri yesterday has sent shocking waves. Many questions doing the rounds are our police officers forced to work under pressure to suit the convenience of all those at the helm of affairs? The deceased, M K Ganapathy, who was working in Mangaluru, seems to have named three police officers and two ministers in his death note. Ganapathy, in an interview to a news channel, held minister K J George, Lokayukta IGP Pranab Mohanty and Additional  DGP of the Intelligence wing, Ashit Mohan Prasad responsible for his extreme step.

Ganapathy, who was transferred in May, was visibly upset that he was not given any posting. With the suicide news becoming talk of the town, all eyes will be on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his next move. What with one of his senior ministers facing the heat, Siddaramaiah will have to order a thorough and impartial investigation.
