In a bid to promote Mysuru as tourist friendly and to contribute towards Clean Indian Campaign, Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) has come out successful with a new eco friendly public toilet complex atop Chamundi hills.
The toilet complex with 27 Indian and European water closets and 15 urinal, is expected to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Sidaramaiah on October 1.
Tourists, pilgrims visiting Chamundi Hills can use the facilities by paying a nominal fee of Rs 2 to Rs 4.
An initiative of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Mysuru, the complex, with a sewage treatment plant, rainwater harvesting facility and roof-top solar power system, has also been adjudged as the country’s first ‘Green Public Convenience’ facility by the Indian Green Business Council.
The eco friendly toilet built atop Chamundi hills will be maintained by a Trust under Build Own Operate and Transfer basis for the next five years. The trust includes representatives from the corporate groups that had built the toilet complex, will be deploying seven persons in two shifts for maintaining the facility.
The CII is also planning to come up with such eco friendly toilets at four more destinations in Mysuru. Mysuru Zoo, Karanji Lake, Mysuru palace ground and the proposed Tourist Plaza at Dasara exhibition ground might get the facility soon.
