Mysuru, June 6:- The editor and writer of Mysuru Messenger (formerly known as St Philomena’s Messenger) Gerry Rodrigues who completed 50 years of selfless service, was felicitated by the Bishop of Mysuru Diocese Rev Dr K A William at a function held at St Joseph’s Cathedral Parish Hall on Tuesday evening.
Rodrigues is also the founder-secretary of Catholic Writers’ Guild (CWG) of Mysuru.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr William said that Rodrigues was a simple and hard working man with great zeal for accomplishing targets. He has a vast knowledge on the history of churches in the old Mysore region, Christianity and other subjects and is indeed a living library, the Bishop added.
Dr William congratulated Rodrigues on completing 50 years of service in Mysuru Messenger, a Christian literature monthly magazine published from the cathedral parish.
Dr Rajashekar of Dr Rajashekar Medical Foundation and Hospital, Siddarthanagar, who was the chief guest, congratulated Gerry Rodrigues on his commendable service to the magazine.
Rev Dr Thomas Antony Vazhapilly, Bishop Emeritus, Diocese of Mysuru, was the guest of honour.
Rev Msgr C Rayappa, Vicar General, Diocese of Mysuru; Rev Msgr (retired) Dr N S Marie Joseph, Rev Dr Dominic Vaz, president of Dhyanavana, RS Naidunagar; senior journalist Niranjan Nikam, and Rev Fr N T Joseph, parish priest of St Joseph’s Cathedral (St Philomena’s Church), Mysuru, graced the occasion.
