Efforts required to propagate Vishwamanava message of Kuvempu: Veteran writer Dr CP Krishna Kumar

Mysuru, February 6:- “Efforts have to be made to propagate the Vishwamanava message of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu,” said veteran writer Dr C P Krishna Kumar.

He was speaking after inaugurating Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Sahityothsava and release of Negila Hadu Kuvempu Vishesha souvenir, organised by Janachetana Trust and Grameena Samsthe at Kalamandir in the city on Wednesday.

“I have released Negila Hadu, a special souvenir with happiness and respect. Kuvempu has been hailed with various names and he deserves all the accolade. His life and literature have been a mirror for time and ethics. There is no writer as relevant as Kuvempu in the present time. Rabindranath Tagore had once said that if one wants to study India, he or she should study the works of Swami Vivekananda. To understand various dimensions of Kannada and Karnataka, one has to study the literature of Kuvempu,” he said.

“Kuvempu hailed Mahatma Gandhi as ‘lord of decency.’ But we don’t find decency and culture in today’s society. Poetries of Kuvempu explain the ideologies of the Indian Constitution. He had called the youths of India to come out of temples, churches and mosques to serve mother India. He had called literature as a social weapon,” Dr Krishna Kumar said. He called upon everyone to propagate the message of Kuvempu.

Prof M S Shekhar of the Institute of Gandhian Studies, Prasanna N Gowda of Janachetana Trust, former vice chancellor of Kuvempu Kannada University Prof Chidananda Gowda, District KaSaPa president Dr Y D Rajanna, Dr Hombaiah Honnalagere and others were present. (GK, NGB)
