Elderly woman’s chain snatched at Vidyaranyapuram

Close on the heels of a daring chain snatching attempt at the K C Layout on Monday evening, one more incident of chain snatching has been reported from Vidyaranyapuram on Tuesday morning.

The victim has been identified as 65-year-old Lakshmi, a resident of Vidyaranyapuram Second Cross. According to the police Lakshmi came out of her house at around 6:30 am to put rangoli. At 6:45 am two bike-borne criminals snatched her chain as soon as she got up after the rangoli ritual.

The criminals sped away with her 18 gram gold chain. In her statement to the police, she said that the youth had worn black helmet and she could not see their faces.

On Monday night, a bike-borne miscreant tried to snatch the gold chain from a woman in broad daylight at K C Layout. According to the police, Madhumala, wife of Dr H S Suresh, a resident of 7th Main, 11th Cross in K C Layout was on her in her two-wheeler way to drop her five-year-old child to the JSS Public School.

As she neared a park near her house, she observed a bike that was speeding towards her. The miscreant collided his bike with her scooter and tried to snatch her chain. Both Madhumala and her child fell to one side and seeing this, the miscreant fled the spot. The mother and daughter sustained injuries.

Nazarbad police have registered a case.
