Mysuru, October 23:- The Elders Citizens’ Council in association with the staff from All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) conducted an ENT check-up camp for senior citizens in the city. The opticians from AIISH gave detailed reasons for hearing loss, like blocking of ears due to cold and nasal blockages, damages to eardrums.
They advised people present to approach AIISH to have a check-up and if the need arose, to have a hearing aid fixed to the ears, as per the advice from the doctors from the institute and have better hearing sense. The institute provides hearing aids at a reasonable cost and also free to some BPL cardholders.
Over 30 members were present and most of them were senior citizens. One or two patients who were examined, were also provided hearing aids free of cost by AIISH. The AIISH which has its own branches all over India, conducts such check-up camps in rural areas also to bring awareness about the reasons for hearing problems and its remedies and precautionary measures to avoid such problems, and the availability of hearing aids at its institute for a better life.
Lauding the good service, Krishnappa Gowda, chairman of Elders Citizens’ Council, called upon the public who have the problems of hearing loss, to make good use of the camp and get better facilities in life. (MR)
