Election observer Pankaj visits N’gud Assembly constituency

Pankaj, election observer for the by-elections to Nanjangud Assembly constituency (Reserve), on Thursday visited the places under Kasaba hobli, where polling centres will be established.

The election observer interacted with local people and urged them to cooperate with the Election Commission to conduct the by-elections without any untoward incidents. Pankaj also asked the citizens to complain to the authorities if they come across any violation of model code of conduct.

The Election Commission has selected Hosur centre-71, a sensitive booth, as a model polling centre.

Of 236 polling stations in the constituency, the authorities have identified 72 centres as hypersensitive and 124 as sensitive.

Expenditure cap

According to the previous voters’ list, Nanjangud constituency has 2.5 lakh voters. The by-election model code of conduct will be in place across the district till the entire poll process is completed on April 15. The EC has fixed an expenditure cap of Rs 28 lakh per candidate, said Deputy Commissioner D Randeep.
