The elephant rides which were resumed last week at Mysore Palace, is likely to be stopped permanently, as members of the erstwhile royal family have urged the department of forests, to take the elephants back to their respective camps.

Elephant rides had been suspended, six months back, at the insistence of Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar when videos shot by tourists were submitted to him, which displayed the animal keepers ill-treating the elephants. However, the elephant rides were resumed on March 15.
