Engineers Day celebrated in the city

Speakers recall Sir MV’s contribution to the society

“Sir M Visvesvaraya was a great scholar, thinker and the most celebrated engineer in the country,” said Ex Muda Chairman K R Mohan Kumar.
He was speaking at the 155th birth anniversary of Sir M Visveshvaraya organised by the Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahasabha at the Institute of Engineers premises on Thursday. Mohan Kumar said, “Sir MV’s contribution to the state and society is immense. He always strived and worked for the betterment of the society. Even today people in the old Mysuru region including Mandya, Maddur and other neighbouring places worship him for his contribution in constructing the KRS dam.
“As human beings everyone aspires to achieve something in their life. Some wish to be engineers, doctors and take any other profession,people must come forward, get inspired by great souls like Sir M V and contribute back to the society,” he added.
Ilai Alwar swamy of Vangipura Nambi Mutt, social worker K Raghuram, Ajay Shastry, Retired engineer C N Babu and others were present.

Engineers’ Day celebrations at NIE Library
Secretary, NIE Managing Committee S K Lakshminarayana garlanded the statue of Sir M Visvesvaraya, on the occasion of Engineers’ Day celebrations at the Library and Information Centre, National Institute of Engineering. NIE alumnus and Structural Engineer M SVijayashankar recalled the contributions of Sir MV in the field of civil engineering on the occasion.
Hon Treasurer T K Chittaranjan, Director, NIE Managing Committee S L Ramachandra, Principal Dr G L Shekar, Dr G S Suresh, Dean (AA), Dr N Suresh, Professor & Head, Civil Engineering, Dr CVidyaraj, Professor, Computer Science & Engineering and Y S Harish, Librarian and others were present on the occasion.

Engineers’ Day celebrations by South Western Railway
South Western Railway Engineers Association (SWREA), Mysuru Chapter celebrated Engineers Day at Chamundi Oficers Club in the city on Thursday. Divisional Railway Manager Atul Gupta inaugurated the programme and participated at the technical convention held as part of the programme.
