Enthusiasm for literature and culture is diminishing: Prof CPK

“Allama Prabhu, Kuvempu, B M Sri and other writers have ignited the light of love for Kannada. But today, that light has been overshadowed by the love for English and other languages,” said renowned writer Prof C P Krishnakumar.

He was speaking at the state level Dasara Sahitya Sammelana held at Rajendra Bhavan, organised by Sirigannada Vedike and Sirigannada Mahila Vedike.

“The love for English has grown a lot in the recent years. No one is ready to fight for Kannada. Karnataka is united only geographically. Karnataka should be united by heart. Then only Kannada can survive in Karnataka. Politicians are fighting for power and not for the sake of Kannada. The enthusiasm for literature and culture is diminishing,” he said.

“In the name of globalisation, our human resources, natural resources, and culture are being altered. We can save it only if we fight united against these. Then only our culture will be saved,” said Prof Aravinda Malagathi.

State President of Sirigannada Vedike M S Venkataramaiah, District President Raghavendra Kumar, Nagarathna, Sougandhika, writer Bannur K Raju and others were present.
