Expansion of Mandakalli Airport runway; MP Simha requests CM for funds

Mysuru, March 2:- Mysuru-Kodagu Member of Parliament Pratap Simha met the Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and requested him to add the project of expanding the runway of Mandakalli Airport to 2.8 km in the state budget of 2020-21.

He requested the chief minister to allot Rs 200 crore for buying land for the expansion of the runway. He said that the project needs 240 acres of land and added that Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) has identified 115 acres of land as of now.

He also requested Yediyurappa to release funds for Mysuru – Kushalnagar Railway project in the budget. He said that Kodagu is the only district in Karnataka that doesn’t have railway connectivity. The central government had allotted Rs 1,855 crore towards this project in the 2018-19 railway budget.

He requested the chief minister to provide land from the state government for the 87-km long railway project and release funds in the state budget. (MR/KS)
