Saraswathipuram police have taken three youth into custody, who were allegedly involved in taking colour xerox copies of Rs 2,000 notes. The accused have been identified as Roshan (28), Revanna (25) and Ajith (25), all carpenters and residents of Metagalli.
Two of the accused, Revanna and Ajith, tried speed away on their bike after seeing the cops when they were apprehended. When questioned, the youth spilled the beans. Seven ‘fake’ currency notes of Rs 2000 were found. The duo also revealed that Roshan was making the fake notes.
The police raided Roshan’s house and ceased 34 duplicate notes of Rs 2,000, four notes of Rs 50 and two notes of Rs 20. One colour xerox machine, scale and cutters were recovered during the raid.
Fake notes worth Rs 88,240 have been seized from the accused. During enquiry, the three revealed they were planning to rob a house at Vijayanagar. The trio was also targeting the house of a political leader of Kyatanahalli in Malavalli taluk, the police said.
The raid was led by inspector Poovaiah, Prakash, Ramaiah and Kantharaju.
