Hotels, beware of this particular family as the city police have issued an alert not to fall prey to their sinister designs and be conned by their looks and dresses.
An FIR has been registered at V V Puram police station with number 93/16 under IPC Sections 417, 420 r/w 149 against sisters Poornima S Rao, Prathima S Rao and Seetha S all children of late Satyanarayana Rao.
Along with them, their brother Haricharan and his wife Varshika Rao have been booked. Haricharan, his wife and a minor son are the residents of Door Number 57, 7th Main, Saraswathipuram. While the police have arrested Poornima S Rao, Prathima S Rao and Seetha S, Haricharan and Varshika Rao are absconding along with their son.
According to the police, the family members approached Komfort Suites at Yadavagiri on June 11 and booked two rooms. They apparently told the hotel manager Bharath that there was a short circuit at their house and needed two rooms to stay till their house was repaired.
On June 28 (Thursday), Bharath approached Haricharan and told him that their bill amounted to Rs 2,21,968 and asked him to clear it immediately if they wanted to continue their stay. Bharath also learnt that Haricharan had told some of the hotel staff that he would get them jobs elsewhere and also had taken money from them.
A suspicious Bharath then approached the V V Puram police station and lodged a complaint.
According to the police, Haricharan, his wife and sisters had the habit of dressing well and cheating several hotels. “The family used to buy costly dresses and approach hotels for rooms and would not vacate for months. We have received many complaints on them from several hotels. I request hotel owners to be careful,” said V V Puram Inspector Ravi.
He said that in the past too, Haricharan was involved in a kidnap case and a fake note distribution case. A couple of cases have been booked against the family in Bengaluru too, he added. “I request the hotel owners and other people who have been cheated by the family to approach V V Puram police so that a strong case can be put up against them,” Ravi said.
