Fans of Kannada actor Dr Shivarajkumar celebrated his 54th birthday by planting saplings in the city on Tuesday.
In a simple yet unique celebration, to mark Shivarajkumar’s birthday, fans had something to drive home. They put a best foot forward towards conserving nature and planting various saplings at Dr Rajkumar Park. Mayor B L Bhyrappa launched the initiative planting saplings along with former MP C H Vijayshankar. Speaking to media persons, Bhyrappa said, “Dr Shivarajkumar, son of legendary actor Dr Rajkumar, has always been indebted to his fans. The fans of Shivarajkumar have taken up some good work by contributing their best to the environment. Usually, fans celebrate their favourite stars’ birthday with cultural events in a grandeur way but members of Shiva Sainya have made an appreciative work today. They need to properly look after and maintain the saplings which they have planted.”
“The MUDA has taken up the initiative of planting five lakh saplings across various ring roads in Mysuru and we would also be planting 400 saplings in Sewage farm on Wednesday.” Mayor added.
Vijayshankar said, “Mysuru has always been a greener city and this initiative by fans of Shivarajkumar is laudable. Getting inspired by the contribution of Dr Rajkumar and his son Shivarajkumar, we are glad to see fans celebrating their favourite stars’ birthday in a unique manner.”
Around 150 saplings were planted on the occasion and mass feeding for public was also held.
Corporator Nandeesh Preetham, President of Shiva Sainya B S Ravi, Vice President B S Mahesh, Treasurer D Mahadeva, association members Dharma, Nagaraj, Sunil, Vishwa and others were present.
