“Farmers should try growing mixed crops to yield maximum benefits from their land,” said K Narayana Gowda, Vice Chancellor of Bangalore Agriculture University.
He was addressing the farmers at the ‘Raitha Dasara’ as part of the ongoing Dasara celebrations at JK Grounds, Mysuru. He said that the climate has changed over the years and growing a single crop is no longer beneficiary. At this point of time farmers must try growing different crops in their fields. Farmers should take life as a challenge and stop committing suicides. Instead, farmers should make use of the facilities provided by the government.
As many as 10 farmers were facilitated during the event for their remarkable achievements in agriculture.
Zilla Panchayat Agriculture Committee president Dayananda Murthy, taluk panchayat President Kallamma Kemparamaiah, vice president M D Manju was present at the event.
Earlier, a procession took place from Kote Anjaneya temple. Bullock carts, sheeps and other agriculture related items were displayed during the procession.
