Farmers stage protest against police high-handedness

Mysuru, December 29:- Farmers on Thursday staged a protest at the constituency of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah here against the police officers’ high-handedness.

The police officers and their staff, cane-charged hundreds of farmers who were peacefully protesting in front of a factory at Adakannahalli village, the farmers alleged.

The protesters alleged that the police cane-charged the farmers after allegedly taking bribe from the factory owner. Farmers staged protest on Mysuru Nanjangud National Highway on Thursday. They alleged that Circle Inspector Gopala Krishna and Sub-Inspector Puneeth assaulted farmers and women. They said that the factory owner have cheated them by giving fake promises to get the fertile land and is yet to provide any jobs to the farmers.

Farmers also alleged that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has invested in shares of several factories. They urged the owners to vacate the factories and give back their land.

Vidyasagar, Shiramalli Siddappa, Bokkahalli Nanjundaswamy and others were present.
