Two-day faculty development programme on Research Methodology and Statistical Analysis using SPSS and AMOS was held in the city recently.
The programne was organized with a purpose to help the researchers, academicians and corporates in the discipline of management and social science to enhance their problem solving knowledge base. The programme witnessed around fifty participants from across Karnataka. The programme provided the participants the deep understanding of various aspects of research methodology, selection and applications advanced statistical tools. Dr PSV Balaji Rao, HOD, Department of Business Administration, VVCE delivered the welcome address. Dr B Sadashive Gowda, Principal, VVCE addressed about the importance of intrinsic motivation and ethics while pursuing research.
The resource person of the programme spoke about the significance of meaningful and useful research. S N Lakshminarayana, Honorable Treasurer, Vidyavardhaka Sangha, highlighted the use of library resources to pursue the research, in his speech. P Vishwanath, Honorable Secretary, Vidyavardhaka Sangha, gave the presidential remarks stating that the innovative and socially useful research works should be done and patented.
The first session of the FDP was delivered by Dr Balaji Rao who shared his knowledge and experience on thesis evaluation criteria, thesis chapterisation and contents of the thesis. Later, Shankar M M took over the sessions with a case study called as Researcher’s Dilemma and then discussed the various aspects of the researchsuch as best practices in analyzing review of literature, identifying the research gap, framing suitable research methodology, selection of appropriate statistical tools and software for research through that case.
