In the history of India, the contribution of Nayaka community is noteworthy, but a few in the society are distorting the image of the community, said state president of Karnataka Rajya Nayakara Hitaraskhana Vedike Dyavappa Nayaka.
He was addressing at a programme organised to commemorate the Foundation Day of Vijayanagar Kingdom in the city on Tuesday.
He said, “The Nayaka community rulers have the credit of constructing various forts and securing the Hindu religion in India’s history. During their period, many Nayaka rulers have brought various socio-economic changes and protected the rich heritage of Karnataka. But today it is saddening to know that a few people in the society are distorting the history of our rulers and the community.”
Kodagu Zilla Panchayat member Manjula; President of Maharshi Valmiki Cooperative Society Kempa Nayaka and Mallappa were felicitated on the occasion.
Prabhakar Hunsur, Sridhar Chamundi Betta, Raju, Thimmappa Nayaka and others were present. –LG, KK
