Film city work yet to take off; villagers unhappy

Mysuru, October 23:- It is two years since the permission was given to start work on film city in the heritage city, but nothing has happened so far.

The foundation laying work for the film city has not yet been performed. Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy chief Rajendra Singh Babu had told 2 years back that the film city would be functioning from Mysuru. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has okayed grant of  110 acres of land at Himmavu village of Nanjanagud taluk. After the inspection by Babu and the then deputy commissioner C Shikha, no one has visited the spot. The villagers who were hoping for employment with the beginning of construction works for the Film City are still waiting.

“There is no activity whatsoever. If the film city comes up here, it would have helped developing tourism in Mysuru,” say villagers. (MR/KS).
