Films should be socially relevant: Narasimhayya

Young directors should understand the seriousness of cinema and have to produce cinemas that have a social responsibility in them, said late Puttanna Kanagal’s brother S R Narasimhayya.

He was speaking after inaugurating the 83rd birth anniversary function of Puttanna Kanagal organised by Mysuru Puttanna Kanagal vedike.  Narasimhayya said that Kannada film industry has some very talented artists. There is a need to produce good movies to bring such talents to limelight.

Puttanna Kanagal was well versed in identifying talents and giving them a chance. “Lots of artists are his findings. A film director should nurture his artists to bring out the best from them,” he said.

“Kannada film industry should incorporate the concept of Swachh Bharat. A transformed Kannada industry will help in spreading the Kannada culture across the globe,” he added.

Kannada film songs singing competition was held as part of the programme. Kamplapur Mohan, Anupama, Dr Snehashri, Nirmal Kumar and others were present.
