Fine Arts Club for the year 2016-17 was inaugurated at Vijaya Vittala PU Composite College by Vijaya Murthy, Director, Narthanashala-Mysuru at the college auditorium.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest, Vijaya Murthy, said, “The visual arts and performing arts in the disciplines of music, dance theatre are vital for the all round development of every human being. Music and dance play critical roles in our life. Fine arts, comprising expertise in music, drama and dance, is considered divine. Learning the same creates intellectual and artistic view point. It is very important to preserve and protect the Indian culture through appreciation for fine arts and also inculcate values in life”.
R Vasudev Bhat, honourary secretary of Vijaya Vittala Education Society, presided over the occasion. Principal of the college, H Satyaprasad highlighted the objectives and aims of the Fine Arts Club and told that the college conducts various programs in the performing arts distinctly to provide opportunities to students to excel in fine arts. Most of the performers have accomplished in the field of dance, classical, light music and instrumental music and exhibit their expertise with concerts held throughout the year.
Sushma R compered the program. Siri Niranjan invoked, Pooja N welcomed, Rachana Rao introduced the chief guest and S R Anukya proposed the vote of thanks.
Dance exponents Karthika Unni began Bharathanatyam performance with ‘Pushpanjali’ tuned in Naata Raaga, Aadi taala to seek the blessings and offer obeisance Nataraja, who is the Lord of Nritya.
Next was the famous Brochevarevarura ninuvina, composed by the famous Keerthanakaara Mysuru Vasudevacharya in Khamaasu Raaga Aadi taala was presented by Deepthi Dikshit.
The programme was concluded with Karthika and Deepthi, who presented Natanam Aadinal, composed in Vasantharaga. The performance was well accepted by the audience.
Both Karthika and Deepthi are accomplished dancers and are trained by the famous Dr Vasundhara Doreswamy.
Satyaprasad, Principal of Vijaya Vittala PU college, Lecturer Sri. C. Vasanth Kumar, Smt. Mayuralakshmi and students were present on the occasion.
