Fire assault on Pak posts to check Infiltration: Army

In a strong message globally, the Indian Army today released a video of punitive fire assaultsrecently on Pakistani posts to demonstrate that it would take strong action to destroy locations across the border actively aiding infiltration by terrorists.
In the dramatic video, loud explosions are heard and thick smoke rises as Pakistani posts are hit with heavy firepower from India including bunker busting guns, rocket launchers and anti-tank guided missiles, automated Grenade Launchers and recoilless guns.
Sources say the video is from earlier this month.
“As part of our counter-terrorism operations, punitive fire assaults are carried out from time to time. Pakistani posts have been actively helping infiltration,” said a senior army officer.
“The Indian Army proactively dominates the Line of Control. While doing so, locations aiding infiltration are being targeted and destroyed to deny advantage to terrorists, thus curbing infiltration attempts… Recent action by our troops in the Nowshera sector has caused some damage to Pakistan army posts which are supporting infiltration.”
The army’s message is loud and clear, said experts – if Pakistan tries to push in infiltrators, India will take firm action.
Pakistan issued a swift denial. “Indian claims of destroying Pakistani post along LoC…and firing by Pak Army on civilians across LoC are false,” said Major General Asif Ghafoor.
Sources have drawn a clear distinction with the surgical strikes of last September, in which Indian soldiers went across the Line of Control and targeted terrorist staging areas.
In this case, Indian soldiers fired mortars from their side of the border.
India’s action comes in the middle of national anger over terror attacks on army camps, the recent mutilation of two soldiers by Pakistanis and the brutal killing of a young Kashmiri army officer. (MR, Inputs: Agencies).
