Mysuru, March 5:- A five-day faculty development programme entitled “Mathematics for Machine Learning” was conducted by the Information Science and Engineering Department, JSS Science and Technology University (JSSSTU), Mysuru, recently.
The programme was funded by ATAL Academy, AICTE, New Delhi.
Dr Chiranjib Bhattacharrya, professor and chairman, Department of Computer Science and Automation, inaugurated the programme and delivered the keynote address on the topic “Deep learning application on drones.”
SJCE principal Dr S.B Kivade, who presided over the function, presented a presidential briefing about the course.
Prof T N Nagabhushan stated that mathematics is going to rule the future development of machine learning. This programme is aimed to bring out mathematical aspects of machine learning so as to enable faculty members to train the students to see physics in mathematics.
Dr P M Shivamurthy, Dr S P Shivaprakash and Dr Anand Raj Ulle from the Machine Learning group at ISE, SJCE, delivered lectures and enlightened the faculty members.
Dr S A Dhanaraj, registrar of JSS STU presided over the function. The university also has a PARAM supercomputer where newer applications are currently being explored. (MR)
