Mysuru, August 20:- Karnataka Senapade members staged a protest on Tuesday, urging the central government to announce Karnataka floods as a ‘national disaster’ and release Rs 25,000 crore for flood relief activities.
The protesters, who were protesting near the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office, said that 17 districts in the state are submerged in water and said people have lost everything. They said that the North Karnataka region has gone 10 years backwards in development due to the floods.
Tejesh Lokesh Gowda, Prajeesh P, Shanthamurthy, Dr P Shantharaje Urs, Mini Bangarappa, Kumar Gowda, Nanjundaswamy and others were present. (MR/KS)
